How to cook Grechanik?

Grechanik is the traditional Russian way to serve buckwheat porridge with cabbage soup or borscht. It is not difficult to cook buckwheat, but they look much more attractive on the table than a pot of porridge. In old cookbooks, influenced by French cuisine, there is a slightly different recipe for buckwheat, breaded in egg and flour. In our opinion, such “improvement” does not make buckwheat tastier. Still, initially it was not a separate dish, namely, belonging to the cabbage soup, served instead of bread.
